A few days ago I took these pictures of a beautiful heron that had landed on the roof of one of my neighbors. It wasn't the first time I had seen a heron on that same spot, but I always feel happy when I see one of those. Even more so after watching the movie The Boy and The Heron by Studio Ghibli because of course the bird comes here to take me on a mysterious and beautiful journey. Or maybe it's just chilling on the roof. I still have to figure this out.
The day I got a movie poster

This may be a good opportunity to show the movie poster that I got at the cinema Lab-1 Eindhoven. I had been wishing to see the movie for some time but I've got to admit the cold weather was really inviting to stay home and not adventure myself outside. But one day I saw a promotion at Lab-1's Instagram profile in which they invited followers to share a story that had a similar premise with The Boy and The Heron: " otherworlds" in literature, films and mythology. I almost didn't reply because I had seen some comments with the ideas I first thought of, like Pan's Labyrinth, Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland, until I remembered of a Brazilian TV series called Cidade Invisível (Invisible City). I'll share my response synopsis below:

One of the things we Brazilians miss the most when we are abroad, even if it is just for a short period, is our food. My husband and I always cook meals for us and our friends to celebrate our cuisine, but sometimes you just miss going to a restaurant and having your favorite dishes - without the need for grocery shopping and doing the dishes afterwards. So you can imagine my excitement when I went to "Comigo", a Brazilian themed restaurant here in the Netherlands.

I had been to "Comigo" last year but it was during the afternoon while we were showing the town Nuenen to my parents-in-law. Because of that we just had some coffee and dessert which tasted really good and already made me like the place. So this time we decided to go there during the evening since at this period they serve our famous barbecue (barbecue) truly in the gaucho* style roasting meat with the swords (big metal skewers). Also in the Brazilian style is the rodízio in which the meat is served in turns by the waiters at the table. There's a buffet with different kinds of salads and pastas which you can get freely and you can't forget my beloved trio: feijoada , white rice and farofa (toasted cassava flour). And to top all of that I had a glass of caipirinha, a popular Brazilian drink made with cachaça .

| Heilige Clemenskerk. Sep. 2022. |
Every time I go to Nuenen I get the same cozy and calming feeling. It is a great place if you're looking for a typical Dutch town without the "chaos" of bigger cities. And of course it's a great place if you enjoy the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh since every ten steps you take there's some reference to him in the city center. From the Eindhoven Centraal you can take the buses 6, 321 or 323 with a short ride of around 15-20 minutes, then about 5 more minutes of walking until the " Park ". I think that's the most central place where you can find the " Heilige Clemenskerk ", a pretty church with Romanesque and Gothic architecture which is not so old by European's standards since it was built in 1871. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to go inside the building, so that's for another time.

That's the only movie during the month of February which I've seen at the cinema theater and I'm glad I decided to do so because it is truly a spectacle to watch.

Myself with the poster of "Poor Things" at Lab-1 Eindhoven. |
Many scenes feel like a painting and convey a fantasy day-dream kind of look even though some aspects of the story are linked to our reality. Cities like Lisbon and Paris are shown here but in a more stylized way either from the modified architecture of these places or even the sky bathed in many different and beautiful colors. This makes a perfect contrast to the first part of the movie which is portrayed in black and white but that doesn't make it less visually interesting. The usage of distorted angles and lenses like the “fish eye” bring out even more the emotions in those scenes.

I always wanted to write my own blog. More than ten years ago they used to rule the internet and I enjoyed so much spending countless hours reading and watching videos about my interests - mainly humor, horror and beauty tips.
Personal blogs didn't disappear though. I believe they assumed different shapes as Youtube channels, Instagram pages or shorter TikTok videos (which now has longer videos, go figure). And I own accounts in every single one of them - and a few more - but my will to own a blog still remains.

One of the reasons is my will to share experiences, even the simplest ones. Maybe because I always go after other people's experiences like opinions about makeup products, tips on how to clean a pan properly or on how to pack a suitcase for a trip. When I go through these experiences myself I feel the need to share what I've learned or what I think about everything - well, not everything, but many things.
