About Bruna

Who am I?

Alhambra Fort in Granada, Spain.

My name is Bruna Ugá, I'm 31 years old and I was born and raised in a place beloved by many: Brazil. I'm from a city called Maceió which is the capital of Alagoas, Brazil's second smallest state. My hometown is the stereotypical image of the country, so that means I grew up going to beautiful beaches every weekend, my parents have a coconut tree in their backyard and we are always dancing samba - only the last part is false, I'm unfortunately a terrible dancer.

University and first job

In 2016 I got my bachelor's degree in Social Communication - Journalism. After finishing my studies I worked in my parent's company for a few years which I conciliated with my job as an English Teacher. It was an awesome experience because I got to practice the language and it was a great way of developing my social skills since I was really shy in my teenage and younger years.

Marriage, a dog and new Studies

Thiago and I in Santorini, Greece.

A couple of years later my then boyfriend and I decided to take a huge step in our relationship and I moved to live with him in the south of Brazil, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. And I didn't go alone because I could not leave behind my beloved dog, Lua! The three of us went to live in the city of Pelotas, a lovely town known for its delicious sweets and desserts. I started working there as an English teacher and it was really cool but I felt the need to do something different. Therefore I enrolled into University once more to study Biology (I know that's not related to my previous degree, but I've always loved this subject).

The Netherlands, here I come!

Lua in Düsseldorf, Germany.
I was really excited to begin my studies in March 2020. Then we all know what happened: the COVID-19 pandemic. After a few months I was able to study online from home and so I did for two years. But life had other plans: my husband got an invitation to work for a company in Europe. And that's why I'm now in the Netherlands! In the last four years I got to know lots of places, friends and a new way of life. I even got a job as a waitress in a big hotel chain, so I interacted with lots of people and practiced both my Dutch and English skills.

I know there's yet a lot to discover and I'm here to register my experiences and thoughts along the way. So welcome and grab a cup of coffee. The cookies look ugly but they taste good.
