Oie!
Here’s my everyday makeup routine - simple, quick, and suited for normal/oily combo brown skin. I love playing with eyeshadows but today I want to show you my basic look for those easy-going days.
Skin tone and texture changes during winter
I have brown skin with mixed undertones: yellow and olive. I mean, that's my opinion after watching hundreds of videos on the subject, hehe.
The lack of sun light makes us look paler and that's totally fine. However, it can make you look a bit tired. So it's good to use products that give back some color to your face.
During warmer seasons my skin is oily on the T zone but during winter it changes. I'd say during this time of the year my skin is more on the "normal" side - even though it continues prone to acne. It even gets dry on some spots, so it's important to find balanced products.

| My basic makeup look |
Let's
get to them!
Fist step: Skin Prep
 |
| Soft Daily UV Hydrating Cream Nivea |
After
washing my face* I use the Nivea Soft Daily UV Hydrating Cream.
It's wonderful for my skin during winter time. It has a cream
texture that helps with dryness around my mouth but it isn't heavy and oily. It also has SPF 15 which is a
plus.
 |
| La Roche-Posay Anthelios |
The La
Roche-Posay Anthelios UVmune 400 Oil Control is an old friend since my
dermatologist recommended it 10 years ago (wow). It works wonders during warmer
weather but it still works well during colder weather because it's not too dry. Remember, it's all about balance. And it doesn't leave a white
cast on darker skin, so yay!
 |
| Labello Watermelon Shine |
On my lips I use Labello Watermelon Shine. It works well during the day but it's not the most hydrating lip balm out there. Because of that I use something stronger during the night*. It doesn't show much color on my lips which is a bummer, so once it finishes I'll try something else.
 |
| Fix It Like Essence |
On
my brows I use the Essence Fix It Like a Pro
Transparent Brow Gel. It keeps my brows in
place and it doesn't give a white cast. For me that's enough but this is not the best product for those
who like the ~brow lamination~ effect.
* I'll share my complete skincare routine in another post.
Second step: Base products
 |
| Maybelline Instant Anti-age Multi-User Concealer |
On my day-to-day I only use concealer, no foundation. The Maybelline Instant Anti-age Multi-User Concealer (shade 08) is also an old friend. It works well for this lighter finish kind of makeup and it gives light to medium coverage.
I can still see my acne scars but it doesn't bother me on regular days. This shade is a little lighter than my skin tone which I enjoy for concealers.
 |
| Sheglam Sun Sculpt Liquid Contour |
Here is a makeup step I only started a few months ago: liquid contouring. I use the Sheglam Sun Sculpt (Maple Syrup shade). It helps to give back some dimension to my face after the concealer.
This shade has a warmer undertone, so it actually works more like a bronzer than contour. It blends easily so I recommend applying it little by little until the wanted result.
 |
| Fit Me Matte + Poreless |
Another famous Maybelline product: Fit Me Matte + Poreless (shade 220 Natural Beige). I recommend applying it with a powder puff instead of a brush. This way it sets better on fine lines. I only apply it on the spots with concealer - under the eyes, around the mouth and on acne scars. It gives a nice coverage without looking "cakey".
Third step: Let's get colors back to your face
 |
| Milani All-inclusive Eye, Cheek & Face Palette |
To set the bronzer and for blush I use the Milani All-inclusive Eye, Cheek & Face Palette -
Medium to Deep. I got it last year for my trip to Spain because of its
versatility and the pigmentation surprised me. For everyday looks I like the pink glittery blush above.
The gold highlighter is
beautiful but too dark for my face, so I sometimes use it as eyeshadow instead.
 |
| Douglas Make-up Collection |
Then
for the highlighter I enjoy the Douglas Make-up Collection. It
has four shades of highlighter, one contour, three blushes and maaany eyeshadow colors. The little girl in me loves big makeup kits, so I'll make another post just to show everything in it.
Final step: Setting everything + lips
 |
| Essence Bouncy Plump Hydrating Dewy Spray |
Now
it's time to set everything with the Essence Bouncy Plump Hydrating
Dewy Spray . It "melts" the powders into the face giving a
well finished look. When I apply too much it can give more of a glow look to
the skin, so I'm curious to see how it'll perform during warmer seasons.
 |
| Kiko Milano Creamy Lipstick |
Last
step: the Kiko Milano Creamy Lipstick (138 Gossamer Emotion).
It's a favorite of mine because it's creamy and I love this mauve shade.
Funny story: I went to a Kiko store last December to by a few new lipsticks. By mistake I bought the shade I already have! As you can see in the photo, that was
right on time because this one is almost done.
So
that's it! Even a basic makeup look requires more than a few products. But with
a bit of practice, you can learn to apply all this within minutes. It's a little part of your day to relax and enjoy taking care of yourself.
I hope you enjoy the tips and see you soon! :)
